Albanian Language

Albanian is an Indo-European language spoken by over 7.6 million people, primarily in Albania Kosovo and North Macedonia, as well as by minority groups in neighboring countries. It is the official language of both Albania, Kosovo, N. Macedonia and has two main dialects, Gheg and Tosk. Albanian is written in the Latin alphabet and has many loanwords from Latin, Greek, Slavic, and Turkish.

Traditional Albanian Food

Bakllava - Is  Turkish desert as well as of Ballkan Peninsula. You can find it anywhere in Albania. Common one is with nuts.

Byrek - Very famous salty pie. Its variants are with cheese, spinach, meat.

Tarator - Cold food served in bowl. Mostly is yogurt blended with Shredded cucumber, salt. In some regions you may also find it with fried eggs.

Raki - Local alcohol beverage. With an avarage of 40% alcohol, Albanians drink it usually with coffee.

Ferges - Usually served in Middle Albania. The dish is made manly with tomatoes, cottage green peppers, cheese and garlic. It is served in very hot temperature. sometimes you have to wait 1 hour to eat it.

Ashure - Originated from Turket, desert described as sweet porridge that is served cold

Tave Kosi - Best one are in Elbasan. It is a tasty quiche-like dish made with eggs yogurt and lamp.
